THREE PART SERIES: CONTEMPORARY TEXTILE ART: KALAMKARI
Updated: Jun 13, 2021
We'd like to put the spotlight on some of the 'not so modern' forms of textile art that comes from amazing craftspeople in India. Appreciation of the skill and time involved and seeing it used in contemporary styles, we hope will go some way towards maintaining 'demand' and keeping these art forms alive.
We'd also would like to mention that we support DwarakaPlus who help impoverished women in Bangalore who hand-paint Kalamkari on textiles using natural vegetable dyes to create our Shara saree bags.
Look out for a few special pieces made by the ladies at DwarakaPlus in our online store offering (gorgeous cushion covers and a dupatta).
